  1. BE WARNED CHAD!!

They completely messed me and the Mrs up 2 times in a row. The issue is the post office isn’t too diligent.

Setup your mail to be forwarded 10-14 days in advance. So your post office is getting it in your vacation area before you leave your home. Or you may be sorry

Also make sure they follow through! The post office is low on accountability because of the cutbacks and bureaucracy.

  3. Online bill payment of all vendor accounts is the best way to avoid
snail mail forwarding issues. The cost is nothing.
You can use the internet to setup most accounts with automatic
bill payment (to pay in full, or setup regular amounts to issue.)

  9. As a postmaster at a large postal facility, I agree with Chad that when you are on vacation, this is the best service for getting your mail. All your mail is sent to you in one package once a week. No need to do it in advance because this service is done in your local office where the carrier holds the mail at his/her case and then sends everything to you. We have many many happy customers that prefer premium forwarding to doing a temporary forward that is done by machines and computers and not by your local carrier.
